the only funny thing in the past week or so has been: that time in vancouver that two indigenous women at a restaurant spotted trudeau also eating there, and without hesitation, started up a “ceasefire now” call that got picked up by more people in the restaurant, and forced trudeau to slink out in shame.

also they have a store where they sell nice soaps and skincare and stuff! while i’m sure they weren’t doing this for The Clout, it’s good to support small businesses, especially when they take a stand like this that could expose them to risk. go check it out and support them if you can!

This is what No Justice, No Peace means

I keep thinking about how the media frames Palestinian children, stripping them rhetorically of their childhood by convoluted phrases like ‘people under 18’ and ’minors as they call them’. I know this language. It is used for black children all the time. Black children aren’t children. They’re 'young men’ and ’twelve-year-olds in adult bodies’. Colonial dehumanisation.

Pope not gonna be in Scream 7 https://t.co/IFom083opY — Chase Mitchell (@ChaseMit) November 23, 2023ALT

My hottest take is that the Pope should excommunicate Biden. I believe this for two reasons:

1. I think it would be a powerful message with a real possibility to affect positive change.

2. It would be funny as hell.

i went to temple recently because my mom died and literally every single jew there agreed that the nation of israel is conducting a genocide against Palestine and needs to be stopped. every single one of us. there had to be forty of us there, a chunk of us mourning my mom, and the service was entirely prayers for palestinian safety and justice. do you know how insane it is to have forty jews agree on something? to speak in absolute unison? to shelve our grief for our personal losses in the face of such an inarguable atrocity? to speak of nothing but the need for action?

it’s hard to articulate the scope and weight of this horror. it’s imperative to communicate, though, the burning intensity of american jews who have turned irrevocably against zionism and the mandate of israel to provide us with a homeland.

I think more leftists need to recognize the gap between “this should happen eventually” and “this would be feasible to achieve in the near future”

Like, I’m an anarchist. And I think an ideal world would have no nation states or borders. But that’s not going to happen tomorrow, or next year, or for a long time

So while I wait, instead of endlessly hemming and hawing over what the would should look like, I try to focus on what I can do right now to improve the world in material ways and to lessen the suffering of others

Go work a shift at a soup kitchen and you can fantasize about a Glorious Revolution *while* making the need for it less.
